Winter Skin Care

Winter is coming up fast, and your skin probably knows it. It’s common to start feeling your skin get drier as the weather cools and the air grows brisk. It’s important to change up your routine to keep your skin moisturized and looking great!

First, increase your water intake. Keeping yourself hydrated from the inside out is the first and most important step to keep that skin glowing. Next, take a look at your skin care products. If your cleanser is harsh and strips away oils, now is the time you will really feel the effects of that. Use a moisturizing cleanser twice a day, using lukewarm water to wash your face. Hot water will also dry out your skin. Your moisturizer should also be hydrating. You might want to switch to something more hydrating in the winter months. Always make sure to pair moisturizer with SPF in the morning! Even though that summer sun is gone, your skin still needs protection from harmful UVA/UVB rays.

A humidifier can help your skin maintain its balance. Between the cold outside air and the dry heater air indoors, your skin will have a tough time maintaining moisture. A humidifier can go a long way in helping your skin retain that moisture.

Finally, some things you should avoid in order to keep your skin looking great and feeling moisturized. Avoid hot showers, as they will sap your skin of moisture and leave you feeling dried out. Do not use bar soap on your face, which is much too harsh for the most delicate part of your skin. Do not rub your face roughly with a towel or washcloth, but gently pat it dry.
